Academy win national J.D. Wetherspoons contract

Leading training provider Academy of Training has won a national contract to deliver training to J D Wetherspoon staff across the UK.
The Plymouth-based company will deliver Health and Safety and Food Safety courses as well as the specialist licensed retail courses overseen by the industry professional body, the BII, to all J D Wetherspoon’s 700 outlets from August.

Academy of Training already provides national training for the restaurant chain Wagamama.  Peter Kingham, business development manager at Academy of Training, said Wetherspoons took Academy’s excellent track record for nation-wide training of catering and bar staff into account.

“Wetherspoons had heard that we had more than 300 trainers across the country and invited us into discussions to provide training for their staff.  We are delighted that they have now awarded us the contract and we are looking forward to working with them.

“With over 700 outlets across the UK this is an important success for Academy of Training. There were a number of companies competing for this contract so it is a major achievement for us as a Plymouth company to win.”
